To track progress in decarbonization among the Combient Network companies and to identify shared pain points of value chain emission reduction, Combient Pure launched a new annual survey in Spring 2024: State of Value Chain Decarbonization. Based on the survey results and the discussions had with Combient network companies on the challenges and needs, we at Combient Pure have put together a Scope 3 Decarbonization Accelerator to support Combient companies in their Scope 3 emission reduction work.

In a study realized with the support of Vinnova's Digitala Stambanan project, Combient Pure, together with, Chalmers University of Technology have been studying the current state and potential of Product-as-a-Service (PaaS) business models and servitization in the Combient companies. PaaS business models can decouple resource use from economic growth, and with the support of digitalization, improve the use of existing products through innovative and digital services.

The 28th COP culminated last week in a thriller negotiation on the global stocktake - the first collective assessment of progress on global warming mitigation since the Paris Agreement in 2015. Greenhouse gas emissions and coal burning reached a new record in 2023 and while a vast majority of countries, including the European Union, backed a push to phase-out coal, oil and gas, Saudi Arabia and thousands of oil lobbyists fought hard against any mention of fossil fuels.

Reusing and refurbishing products present a substantial, sustainable business potential in the near and medium-term. These approaches are not new, but a dedicated focus will benefit the planet and offer new economic opportunities.
