Do you want to pioneer in promoting circular solutions in technical building equipment?
We invite companies across the Nordic region to join the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program for Technical Building Solutions! This initiative is designed to fast-track the development and implementation of circular solutions in the Nordic building sector.
Events
The Program kicks off with the first Value Chain Session on February 13th, Circularity in Technical Building Equipment: Current State and Opportunities
The first session provides an overview of circularity in technical building equipment, focusing on the current state and emerging opportunities. Participants will gain insights from industry cases and hear from companies actively engaged in the circular economy. The hybrid session will take place onsite in Stockholm at the Combient office (Vasagatan 12) and online via Teams.
Agenda (CET)
9.00 Welcome & Introduction to the Program,Combient Pure, 9.30 State of circularity & circularity in the construction industry in the Nordics, Sofia Sundström, Circular Transition Officer, Cradlenet 9.50 Circularity in technical installations, Ulla Janson, Senior Lecturer, Installation and Air Conditioning Engineering, Lund University
Break
10.55 Vision and emerging opportunities in circularity, Malin Belfrage, Senior Project Manager Sustainability & Anna Denell, Sustainability Director, Vasakronan 11.20 Circularity calls for new cooperations, Mikael Börjesson, Director Sustainability and External Relation & Caroline Jacobsson, Key Account Manager 11.45 Closing Words & Next Steps, Combient Pure
12.00-13.00 Lunch, onsite at Vasagatan 12
Matchmaking (onsite only): 13.00-14.00 Companies pitching 14.00-15.00 Speed dating between companies 15.00 End of the Session
In the second session, we dive into circular business models and product design, emphasizing strategies for creating technical building equipment that is modular, durable, and designed for reuse. Participants will explore how innovative business models, such as leasing and take-back schemes, can drive circularity. With case studies and peer discussions, the session encourages cross-value chain ideation to align design practices with circular objectives.
A detailed agenda will be announced soon.
The third session focuses on the value chain and ecosystem design needed to enable circularity at scale. Participants will examine how partnerships across the value chain can overcome barriers such as dismantling, reverse logistics and material recovery. Through case studies and collaborative exercises, the session highlights successful examples of circular ecosystems and invites participants to co-develop new approaches.
A detailed agenda will be announced soon.
The final session centers on turning ideas into action by exploring practical steps to design and implement circular pilots. Participants will discuss existing pilot projects and share experience.
A detailed agenda will be announced soon.

A Nordic piloting program for circularity in technical building solutions creates new business opportunities.
A group of Nordic companies come together to promote circularity in the building sector’s value chain wide effort: a program led by Combient Pure and funded by Nordic Innovation pilots circular technical solutions in buildings to fast-forward the circular offering development of products like Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, door systems and elevators.
In 2023, Combient Pure, Vasakronan, ASSA ABLOY, KONE and Swegon came together in a joint program to accelerate developments in circularity. The focus was to develop the internal capabilities for circularity in the participating companies. The companies are now continuing the journey to fast-track the development of circular solutions for technical building equipment in a new piloting program, aiming at value chain wide impact. The group of companies is now joined by other industry players: Skanska, Multiconsult, Demontera, NollaE and Cradlenet. The piloting program is funded by Nordic Innovation.
Spring 2025
- 4 Value chain session on circularity in technical building solutions:
- Circularity in Technical Building Equipment: Current State and Opportunities, Stockholm, February 13th 2025
- Designing Circular Solutions Across the Value Chain, Helsinki, March 6th, 2025
- Collaboration and Partnerships for Circularity, Oslo April 10th, 2025
- Planning and Preparing for Circular Pilots, Copenhagen, May 15th, 2025
- Value Chain sessions are run in Hybrid format (onsite from a Nordic Capital + online in Teams)
- Matching companies for piloting circular solutions in buildings on site only at each Capital at a time
Fall 2025
- Pilot build-up and execution - timetables to be specified
Spring 2026
- Review sessions on the results of the pilots
- Dissemination of results through events, public communications and final report
Participating to the Value chain sessions does not require companies to pilot.
- 4 Value chain session on circularity in technical building solutions:
The program is open for any building sector related actor that is interested in developing the circularity of technical building equipment. A participating company may for example be a:
- technical building product manufacturer
- property owner, construction company
- installation company
- planning office
- circular marketplace
- provider of logistics
- provider of warehousing services
We encourage you to join us and become a part of this pioneering journey!
- Structural Support and Safety Equipment: Systems that ensure the building's integrity and safety, such as elevators, escalators, and fire suppression systems.
- Environmental and Climate Control Equipment: Equipment to regulate temperature, humidity, and air quality, like HVAC systems, dehumidifiers, and ventilation units.
- Heating Equipment: Systems designed to maintain indoor temperatures for comfort and safety, like radiators, heat pumps, boilers and underfloor heating.
- Energy and Power Management Equipment: Systems that distribute, monitor, and control power within a building, including transformers, lighting, generators, and renewable energy sources (like solar panels).
- Plumbing and Water Management: Equipment for water distribution, drainage, and water treatment, such as pumps, water heaters, and wastewater systems.
- Building Automation and Smart Systems: Digital systems for monitoring, controlling, and automating building functions, including smart sensors, security systems, and building management systems (BMS).
- Gain Industry Insights: We bring you together with leading Nordic companies and help you expand your understanding of circularity in technical building solutions.
- Pilot Solutions: We help you find value chain partners to design and pilot circular solutions in real building projects.
- Impact the Future of Circularity in the Building Sector: We help you contribute to shaping the future of technical building equipment - making the Nordics a leading hub of circular solutions.
- Strengthen Brand and Visibility: We will help showcase your solutions across the Nordic market and gain visibility in national and EU-level discussions.
Please complete the participation form by Jan 31st 2025. In the form, you’ll be asked whether you are interested in both the open value chain session and piloting, about your preliminary piloting ideas as well as thoughts on advancing circular solutions.
Let’s transform the technical building solutions industry together and have the Nordics lead the way in creating a sustainable, circular future for the construction industry!
